The Rotary Club of Springfield, Vermont, hosted its fifth annual live butterfly release fundraiser on Friday, August 28, 2026 during the Springfield On The Move Comtu Park concert. Donors purchased butterflies to release in support of the Rotary Club’s community service projects.

According to past Rotary Club president Karen Longo, the event provided a meaningful way to remember and celebrate loved ones who have passed away.

“Over the past five years, we’ve released more than 700 butterflies and raised nearly $7,000 for local community projects,” Longo said. “This fundraiser provides a beautiful way to honor our friends and family.”

All the butterflies released were Painted Ladies, a species native to the region.

Founded in 1927, the Rotary Club of Springfield is a vibrant organization with more than 30 members dedicated to local and international service. For more information, visit springfieldvtrotary.org.
