The Rotary Club of Springfield, Vermont hosted its fourth annual live butterfly release fundraiser on Friday, August 22, 2025. Donors purchased butterflies to release in support of Rotary’s community service projects.
According to past Rotary Club president Karen Longo, the event offered a meaningful way to remember and celebrate loved ones who have passed away. “Over the past four years, we’ve released more than 600 butterflies and raised nearly $6,000 for local community projects,” Longo said. “This fundraiser provides a beautiful way to honor our friends and family.”
All the released butterflies were of the Painted Lady variety, which is native to the region.
Founded in 1927, the Rotary Club of Springfield is a vibrant group of over 30 members dedicated to local and international community service. For more information, visit springfieldvtrotary.org.
