The Springfield Rotary Club recently donated $250 to a Rotary international service project aimed at improving vision care for visually impaired children in Ukraine.
Past District Governor John Bob Siemienowicz and Claremont-Sugar River Rotary Club past president Charlene Lovett, International Service Chairs for Rotary District 7870, spoke to the club about the new initiative, which will support a school for visually impaired children in Poltava, Ukraine.
The project seeks to raise $3,600 to purchase software and specialized equipment designed to improve treatment and assist with vision restoration for the children. The technology is expected to support efforts to restore and enhance vision, providing students with greater opportunities to learn and participate more fully in their daily lives.
Siemienowicz and Lovett explained that the project reflects Rotary’s commitment to international service and its ability to connect local clubs with projects addressing important needs around the world.
At the conclusion of the presentation, Springfield Rotary presented a $250 donation toward the project which was enough money to complete the project.
The Springfield Rotary Club is part of Rotary District 7870, which encompasses southern Vermont and southern New Hampshire. Through local and international service projects, the club works to support communities and improve lives.
