ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
• SAVE THE DATE: Changing of the Gavel will take place on June 24 at Vermont Vines. Details to follow.
• The club will be collecting diapers for the Diaper Bank during the month of April. For more info, contact Immediate Past President Emma.
• The club's annual "Rotary Reads" project will take place on April 11 at Union Elementary School.
• The Rotary District 7870 Assembly will take place on April 26.  Anyone interested in carpooling should contact President-elect Sue.
• Best wishes and a card for a speedy recovery sent to Bill Dakin.
• Thank you note received for the $144 donated by the club that purchase two cases of Girl Scout cookies. One case will be given to Springfield Family Center and the other to the Chester Family Center.
• The club donated $150 to the Post Prom Committee.
 
TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE 
We have collected 452 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the twelfth recycled bench that will be given to the Springfield Conservation Committee and installed near the pollinator habitat hillside at Springfield Hospital. To date, 9,596 pounds of plastic film (>  4.75 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's and heading to Trex Company for recycling. NOTE: We are in need of volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

President Deb welcomed all to the Apr. 8, 2025 club meeting held at the Springfield Area Parent Child Training Center.  For the thought of the day, she offered this quote attributed to Tia Walker:  “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors."

Springfield Senior Center executive director Lori Johnson talked about all the full range of activities at the Senior Center each month. The Springfield Senior Center, founded in 1963, is the oldest senior center in Vermont. Although there is no membership fee, it currently has 300 members. To learn more, visit its Facebook page by clicking here.
