TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE
We have collected 954 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the twelfth recycled bench that will be given to the Springfield Conservation Committee and installed near the pollinator habitat hillside at Springfield Hospital. To date, 10,098 pounds of plastic film (4.9 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's and heading to Trex Company for recycling. NOTE: We are in need of volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

President Deb welcomed all to the May 6, 2025 club meeting held at the Springfield Area Parent Child Training Center. For the thought of the day, she offered this quote attributed to Napoleon Hill: “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.”

The weekly prize of $9 was won by Adam. The big raffle grows to $44.
PROGRAM:
The Edgar May Health & Recreation Center talked about the organization. 300-400 people visit Edgar May each day. 52% of Edgar May members are under the age of 19 or over the age of 62. Edgar May is planning an expansion project. Phase 1 is the remediation of the 1.6-acre brownfield site is now fully funded. It is now raising funds for Phase II which is the design and construction of the Annex Building. To learn more, click here.
