President Karen welcomed all to the May 9, 2023 club meeting held at the Crown Point Country Club.
For our inspirational moment, Christian offered this quote from William Arthur Ward:
The adventure of life is to learn. The purpose of life is to grow. The nature of life is to change. The challenge of life is to overcome. The essence of life is to care. The opportunity of like is to serve.
Rotary District 7870 Governor Randell Barclay presented two awards to the Rotary Club.
The first was the District 7870 Public Image Award to the owner/editor of the media that provided the most effective coverage of Rotary events that raise the profile of Rotary during the current Rotary year. The award recipient was Rod Arnold, publisher of the Springfield Reporter. Rod is a longstanding member of the Rotary Club of Springfield Vermont. The Springfield Reporter is a weekly online newspaper serving the Springfield Vermont area.
The second was for the club that best increases the awareness of Rotary in the community. From July 1, 2022 to present, close to 50 articles about the Rotary Club of Springfield Vermont have appeared in area newspapers including The Eagle Times, The Springfield Reporter and The Vermont Journal. These articles include club news generated at club meetings, community projects, fundraisers, and Rotary commentaries.
