• Holiday Party is scheduled for 12/7 at CPCC. For more info, contact Patti.
• Penny Sale: Saturday, October 19. Members received an email with a list of companies to solicit prizes and sponsorships. We are looking for a space to store and display the prizes. We are looking for a non profit group interested in providing food for the event. Chairs and big sign has been ordered. We have posters to be put up in businesses. For more info, contact Jeff.
• Literacy Project: We are looking into providing first graders in Springfield and Chester with Rotary books. For more info, contact Emma.
• The Rotary District 7870 September newsletter has been distributed. It contains an article about the club's plastic project.
Trex Plastics Challenge Update
We have collected 592 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the ninth recycled bench that is earmarked for the Green on Main. Since February of 2023, 6735 pounds of plastic film (over 3-1/3 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. You can bring your plastic to the Springfield Town Library.

President Deb welcomed all to the Sept. 17, 2024 club meeting held at Maebelline's Restaurant. For the thought of the day, Carol Cole offered this quote by Michael Jackson: "I believe in wishes and in a person’s ability to make a wish come true, I really do. And a wish is more than a wish... it’s a goal that your conscience and subconscious can help make reality.”

The weekly prize of $5 was won by Jim. The big pot now grows to $21.
PROGRAM:
Janet Howe who works in accounting and benefits administration of One Credit Union talked about the bank's collaboration with Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 2017, the bank matches donations to Make-A-Wish and has raised $100,000. A "Wish Makers Gala" is being planned for 11/9 at Crown Point Country Club with a goal of raising !5,000, the cost of providing one wish.
