SERVICE ABOVE SELF
President Karen welcomed all to the June 6, 2023 club meeting held at the Crown Point Country Club.
For our inspirational moment, Jessica Martin offered this quote from Stephen Hawking:
“I have noticed that even those who assert that everything is predestined and that we can change nothing about it still look both ways before they cross the street.”
PROGRAM:
Sue Fortier, Executive Director of the Meeting Waters YMCA, was the featured speaker. Sue noted that this is the 179th anniversary the YMCA and the 58th anniversary of YMCA Summer Day Camps. She discussed how the day camp became part of the summer food program in 2013. This will be the second year in which the Springfield Rotary Club will help the Weekend Food Program. This year 174 campers will take part in the Lewis Day Camp over 8 weeks.
HAPPY EVENTS:
Karen: Today's speaker and guests from Chester Rotary
Carol: Closing on her first home with Bean Group and for Jessica being named Honored Guest at Alumni Weekend.
Jeff: Dad's home!
John Holmes: Chester Rotary is giving five $1,000 scholarships to Green Mountain students.
Sue Dana: A $15K grant means that Meals on Wheels can also provide pet food.
Marty: Ed set a new record for plastic bag - 60 lbs!
Weekly raffle of $6 was won by Karen. The pot grows to $6.
