ANNOUNCEMENTS
• The Thanksgiving Food Drive netted over 1,000 pounds of food and $1,500 when monetary contributions were matched.
• The Rotary Job Fair information session will be Nov. 23.
• Kurn Hattin Christmas Project is scheduled for 12/12. There are still some students that need sponsors for gifts. An email has been sent to members. Contact President Deb for more info.
Trex Plastics Challenge Update
The Springfield Rotary Club collected 265 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the tenth recycled bench that will be given to Elm Hill School. To date, 7,409 pounds of plastic film (over 3.7 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library.

President Deb welcomed all to the Nov. 19, 2024 club meeting held at our new location, Springfield Area Parent Child Training Center. For the thought of the day, she offered this quote by George Elliot: "It's never too late to be what you might have been."
RAFFLE:
The weekly prize was won by Tom. The big raffle now grows to over $45.
PROGRAM:
Lisa Mobus spoke about and shared photos from her 200-mile walk in Spain, the Camino Primitivo, that she completed this past summer. She related how, in their last conversation before his passing, her father mentioned that the historic walk had long been on his bucket list; she decided then that she would walk the route from Oviedo to Santiago in his honor. A year ago she started training, watching her diet and walking increasingly longer distances. The long-time Riverside Middle School teacher flew to the Iberian peninsula shortly after the end of the last school year, and completed the trek over a two-week period in late June to early July, covering 10 to 18 miles a day. Lisa is the wife on Springfield Rotarian and Town Manager Jeff Mobus.
