TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE
We have met our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the eleventh recycled bench that will be given to the Springfield Community Players. To date, 9144 pounds of plastic film (close to 4.5 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling.
We will now begin collecting plastic film for the 12th recycled bench that will go near the pollinator habitat hillside at Springfield Hospital. NOTE: We are in need of volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

PROGRAM:
Kayla Bapp, SAPCC diaper bank, PCC Coordinator and Child Passenger Safety Technician talked about the needs of the diaper bank. In FY 2024, the diaper bank gave out over 20,000 diapers and wipes to 728 families. In the month of January, the diaper bank gave out 3,000 diapers. Any parent or guardian living in the SAPCC service region can access free diapers and wipes. Additionally, it often has access to formula and other necessities if needed. Throughout the month of April, Springfield Rotary Club is sponsoring a diaper drive to benefit the Diaper Bank at Springfield Area Parent Child Center.
