TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE 
We have collected 848 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the thirteenth recycled bench that will be given to Springfield Parks & Recreation. To date, 10,994 pounds of plastic film (over 5-1/4 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library. NOTE: We need volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF

President Sue welcomed all to the July 8, 2025 club meeting held at the Springfield Area Parent Child Training Center.  For the thought of the day, she offered this quote attributed to Muhammad Ali:, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth

HAPPY EVENTS: 

  • Sue: Changing of the Gavel.

  • Sue: Deb's presidency.

  • Sue: A 3-day weekend.

  • Deb: Camping with her grandsons.

  • Deb: Sue as president.

  • Deb: Did some home repairs.

  • Ed G.: Full family got together for 7/4 including daughter from Israel.

  • Alan: Spent 7/4 with family

  • John: Deb's presidency

  • John: Sue's presidency

  • John: Bibens successfully raised money for Meals on Wheels. 

  • Jeff: Lisa's back safely.

  • Jeff: Sue's presidency.

RAFFLE:

The weekly prize of $4 was won by Michelle. The big raffle grows to $76.

PROGRAM:

President Sue conducted a club assembly. She will be sending out program assignments for future club meetings. She will be issuing a member survey shortly. Upcoming activities include: (a) Butterfly Release at the last Friday of August concert at Comtu Park; (b) Penny Sale tentatively planned for 10/25; (c) a Cornhole tournament with the Lions Club in September; (d) November Food Drive; and (e) possible project with Cover in Springfield area.
