ANNOUNCEMENTS
Trex Plastics Challenge Update
Bench #10 is being assembled and will be given to Elm Hill School. The Springfield Rotary Club collected 273 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the eleventh recycled bench that will be given to Riverside Middle School. To date, 8,417 pounds of plastic film (over 4 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library. NOTE: We are in need of volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

PROGRAM:
Springfield Town Manager Jeff Mobus talked about the proposed 2025-26 Town Budget. The budget proposes an increase of 5.34%. This is due in part to rising employee compensation costs, fire department needs, and public works demands. If a proposed 1% local option sales tax on rooms and meals is passed, then the increase could be 4.57%. The town is also looking at ways to reduce the tax rate by increasing the Grand List.
