ANNOUNCEMENTS
• The Changing of the Gavel will take place on July 9th from 5:30-7 PM at Vermont Vines in Rockingham. Invitations will be emailed.
• The club will be participating in the YMCA Summer Bag program.
• We are hoping to release butterflies at the Aug. 28 Comtu concert. Details are forthcoming.

TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE
To date, 15,157 pounds of plastic film (over 7.5 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw’s Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling.
Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library.
NOTE: We need volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

President Sue welcomed all to the June 2, 2026 club meeting held at theSpringfield Area Parent ChildTraining Center. For the thought of the day, she offered this quote attributed to Winston Churchill: ““Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm."
BOWL OF LIFE: (members put three things about themselves on paper and place into a bowl and then we try to identify the member).
"I learned to drive on a 5-speed car on the German autoban"- No one fessed up.

Marty: Pine Ridge service project at district conference was well received, as was presentation by The BEAR Project.
Marty: Both granddaughters participated in the Regal Spring Gymnastics Meet.
RAFFLE
The weekly prize of $6 was won by Sue who gave it back to club. The big raffle grows to $234 and only 10 cards left.
PROGRAM:
Paul Dana, Subtractive Engineer for The Manufacturing Collaborative, spoke about the organization's efforts to strengthen Vermont's manufacturing workforce and support economic growth throughout the region.
During his presentation, Dana discussed the critical role manufacturing plays in Vermont's economy and outlined how The Manufacturing Collaborative is helping address workforce and capability shortages connecting students, job seekers, educators, and employers and provide advanced contract manufacturing The organization works with manufacturers across the state to promote career opportunities, provide training resources, and develop pathways into high-demand manufacturing jobs.
Dana emphasized that modern manufacturing offers a wide range of rewarding careers that require advanced technical skills and provide competitive wages and opportunities for advancement. He shared examples of partnerships between manufacturers, schools, and workforce development organizations that are helping prepare the next generation of skilled workers.
"The future success of Vermont manufacturing depends on attracting and developing talented employees," Dana said. "By working together, educators, businesses, and community organizations can help ensure that manufacturers have the workforce, technologies, and capability they need to thrive."
Rotary Club members learned about initiatives designed to introduce students to manufacturing careers, support apprenticeships, and help employers recruit and retain qualified workers. Dana also highlighted the importance of manufacturing to local communities, noting the industry's contribution to job creation, innovation, and economic stability.
The Manufacturing Collaborative serves manufacturers throughout Vermont by fostering collaboration, promoting workforce development, and supporting initiatives that strengthen the state's manufacturing sector.
