ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
• YMCA Weekend Backpack project meets on Thursdays at 5:30 pm. If you can volunteer, contact Karen.
• Butterfly Release project will kickoff on July 15 and packets given out at next week's meeting. If you can volunteer, contact Karen.
• We have a foursome for the District Golf Tournament on 8/18.  
• "Changing of the Gavel" will take place on July 6 at the Inn at Weathersfield from 5-7 PM. Tickets will be $20 per person. There will be a cash bar.
• On Monday, several Rotarians attended the public safety summit to discuss approaches for reducing violence and harm in the community.
• The club is a sponsor of Lace Up for Laura on June 24. If you would like one of the five club registrations, contact Jeff.
 
Trex Plastics Challenge
 
We collected 88 pounds of plastic film from the Springfield Town Library towards our goal of another 500 pounds of plastic film. To date, 1576 pounds of plastic film has been removed from the waste stream, delivered to Shaw's, and heading to Trex for recycling.

President Karen welcomed all to the June 13, 2023 club meeting held at the Crown Point Country Club.

  • Buddy: 55 years since his high school graduation

RAFFLE:

Amon won $7 but the $13 big pot continues to grow.

 

PROGRAM:

 
The Springfield Rotary Club honored this year's Rotary scholarship winners. Amon Chumba, Thomas Czwakiel and Alexis Tewksbury were each awarded a $2000 scholarship. Chumba will be attending UMass Dartmouth, majoring in biology and pre med. Czwakiel will be going to Keene State College majoring in secondary education, social studies.  Tewksbury will study at Coastal Carolina University on her way to a nursing career. Funds for the Scholarship Awards came from the annual Springfield Rotary Penny Sale, which will return this October.
