ANNOUNCEMENTS

• 69th Annual Penny Sale: You can bring collected prizes to club meeting. For more info about prizes, contact Pres. Emma. We will be selling raffle tickets in front of Shaws 10/7 and 14 from 9-12;  10/17 from 3-6. If you can help, contact Liz. If you are interested in contributing to the purchase of a stuffed animal for the Penny Sale @$20, contact Buddy.
 
Trex Plastics Challenge Update
The fourth bench will be constructed today and given to Black River Action Team.The club has begun collecting plastic film for towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for a fifth bench. To date, 2,368 pounds of plastic film has been removed from the waste stream, delivered to Shaw's, and heading to Trex for recycling. You can bring your plastic to the Springfield Town Library.Volunteers are needed to help sort the plastic film at the library. If you can volunteer some time, contact Sue Dowdell. Marty will be presenting the project to the Windsor Rotary Club on9/26.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF

President Emma welcomed all to the September 19, 2023 club meeting held at the Crown Point Country Club.

While there was no inspirational moment today,  I offer this quote from Bill Murray:  "Whatever you do, always give 100%. Unless you're donating blood.”

 

HAPPY EVENTS: 

  • Emma: Had a birthday dinner at Copper Fox

  • Jeff: Lisa had a good birthday

  • Jim: Riverside Football Club won its first game 22-0.

  • Jeff: Had a fun classmate reunion

  • Buddy: 40 stuffies have been purchased so far for the Penny Sale

  • Jim Fog: Has been hired as the middle school PE teacher

  • Deb: Had a fun vacation to Myrtle Beach

  • Alan: Happy to be a prospective member of the Springfield Rotary

RAFFLE:

Ron won $9 that he donated to the club. The big pot grew to $62.

PROGRAM:

 
Roger Allbee, former VT Secretary of Agriculture, gave an informative presentation on "Turning the Soil: 260 Years of Vermont's Agriculture History."
