To date, 12,148 pounds of plastic film (over 6 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw’s Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library. NOTE: We need volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

PROGRAM:
Rotarian and Town Manager Jeff Mobus spoke briefly about the upcoming Water and Sewer bond votes. The votes wil be held Tuesday, November 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Middle School. A public informational meeting will be held either November 5 at 6:00 p.m. or November 17 at 7:00 p.m., at the Town Hall.
Article I would fund the replacement of existing water lines along Clinton and Main Streets. The existing water lines date from the late 1800s and early 1900s. Article II would replace sewer lines along Mineral, Main, River and Wall Streets, which have been failing.
The water project will cost $13.5 million, the sewer project just under $2.6 million. Approval of the bond issues will qualify the projects for state subsidies, Mobus said. Rejection of the bond issues will not relieve the Town of the responsibility for replacing the lines, but will make the Town ineligible for state financial assistance.
NOTE: Thank you Rod Arnold for supplying the notes for this week's meeting.
