• We are selling butterflies at the Comtu Music Series the next two Fridays. Due to the weather sales have been slow. The butterflies will be released on 8/23. To order Butterflies, click here.
• The 60 rain suits and crocs for our District Grant to supply Springfield and Chester preschools will be delivered next week.
• Penny Sale: Tickets will be distributed next week for the event on Oct. 19. The Boy Scouts have agreed to sell food at the sale.
• President Deb is looking into other venues for our club socials.
• A survey was mailed to everyone regarding ideas for our Holiday Party. Please check your email and send the survey to Patti.

Trex Plastics Challenge Update
The eighth bench has been delivered to Springfield Town Library. We have collected 232 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for ninth recycled bench that is earmarked for the Green on Main. Since February of 2023, 6375 pounds of plastic film (over 3 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. You can bring your plastic to the Springfield Town Library.

PROGRAM:
Jennifer L. Scott, Executive Director of Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center (AHEC) gave an overview of her organization. Since 1999, the Vermont AHEC Network has engaged academic and community partners to improve the distribution, diversity, supply, and quality of the health workforce in Vermont, especially in our rural and underserved communities. Southern Vermont AHEC is one of two independent nonprofit regional AHEC centers in Vermont. The primary goals of the Vermont AHEC Network are (1)Strengthen Vermont’s health workforce development infrastructure through academic and community partnerships; and (2) Helping to train and develop a diverse healthcare workforce prepared to deliver culturally appropriate, high-quality team-based care with an emphasis on primary care for rural and underserved populations in Vermont.
