ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
• The Food Drive went well: 739 pounds of food and $1,577 in monetary donations were collected.
• Changing of the Gavel, 6/25 @Weathersfield Inn. Watch your email for invites.
• Summer Backpack Food Program will be done again this year.  For more info, contact Karen.
• Sherri Nichols, Springfield Superintendent of Schools, will be at the Springfield Town Library today at 6:00 PM.
 
Trex Plastics Challenge Update
 
We have collected 753 pounds towards our seventh bench which will go to the library. To date, 4,886 pounds of plastic film (over 2 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream, delivered to Shaw's, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic wrap to the Springfield Town Library. We need more volunteers to help sort at the Library, please contact Sue Dowdell.

SERVICE ABOVE SELF

President Emma welcomed all to the May 14, 2024 club meeting held at Maebelline's Restaurant. For the thought of the day, Emma offered this quote by Walt Disney: “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

BOWL OF LIFE: (members put three things about themselves on paper and place into a bowl and then we try to identify the member)

HAPPY EVENTS: 

  • Emma: Grandma is recovering after breaking her hip.

  • Ron: Chester Rotary awarded a $8000 scholarship.

  • Taylor: Attended a winning Red Sox game with her mom for Mothers Day.

  • Alan: Happy to finally be inducted into the club and for participating in food drive.

  • Jeff: Happy about monetary donations for food drive.

  • Jeff: Celebrating his 35th wedding anniversary

  • Jeff: Lisa is being interviewed for a Fulbright Scholarship.

New member induction:

Two new members were inducted: Alan Englander, Owner / Director of A L Sustainability LLC and Jill Lawrence, a realtor with The Real Estate Collaborative. Their sponsors are Jeff and President Emma.

RAFFLE:

The weekly prize of $5 was won by Heather. The big pot grew to $50.

PROGRAM:

 
Heather Frahm, a member of the Springfield Select Board, talked about a new strategic endeavor directed at visitors, residents, and businesses, Springfield802.
A website will be launched to tell everyone about Springfield's positive attributes. 
 
This bulletin attempts to give a gist of the meeting.  However, it is always better to attend.  If you have any complaints about the contents of this bulletin...
