TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE
The Springfield Rotary Club met our goal of 1000 pounds of plastic film for the twelfth recycled bench that will be given to the Springfield Conservation Committee and installed near the pollinator habitat hillside at Springfield Hospital. To date, 10,146 pounds of plastic film (>5 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream since we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. We have collected 13 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds for our 13th bench to be given to Springfield Parks & Recreation. NOTE: We need volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.
